A geomembrane production line is a highly integrated, automated system designed for the continuous manufacture of impermeable plastic sheets used in containment applications like landfills, ponds, and canals. The core process typically begins with the feeding of raw polymer material (e.g., HDPE, LLDPE) into an extruder. The material is heated, melted, and homogenized. The molten polymer is then formed into a thin film through a flat die. Critical to the process is the calibration and cooling stage, often using a large chilled-roll casting unit, which solidifies the sheet and controls its initial thickness and surface texture. Depending on the required strength, the line may include a laminating station to create multi-layer geomembranes.Subsequent steps usually involve precision thickness monitoring with scanning gauges, and surface texturing (on one or both sides) using rollers to enhance friction characteristics. The geomembrane is then trimmed, cooled further, and meticulously wound into large, uniform rolls using a tension-controlled winder. The entire line is controlled from a central console, ensuring consistent quality, specified mechanical properties, and high production efficiency.
